Junetta C. Lago, 83, of Bangor, formerly of Rockaway, NJ, died Thursday in Wind Gap, Pa.
She was the wife of the late Alexander Lago who died in 1999.
Personal: A coal miner's daughter, Junetta was born to the late Manuel and Brookie (Bishop) Vasquez into abject poverty at the height of the great depression on the banks of the New River in Nuttleburg, West Virginia; a town which no longer exists.
Moving to New Jersey in later years, Junetta worked at many companies in many capacities. In spite of her poor upbringing, she learned skills that would eventually help her land a position at AT&T. It was there that she would finish her working career as secretary to some of AT&T's top executives in Parsippany, New Jersey.
A loving daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend, Junetta always put others before herself. Her family does not know how they will get along without her.
Survivors: Surviving: Son Mark A. Lago, and his wife Linda, Bangor, PA. Grandchildren Christopher Lago and Allison, wife of Kent Leonard.
Services: Graveside Services will be held at Noon on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Evergreen Cemetery, Hillside, NJ. Visitation will be at the James J. Palmeri Funeral Home, 6602 Alpha Ave., Martins Creek, PA from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Saturday.
